The people behind the frames

Stars Media Studio runs on a small crew of directors, photographers, and editors who stay close to every project from the first moodboard to the final export. We keep the team lean so the person you talk to at the start is the same person shaping the visuals at the end.

Who we are

The people behind the frames

Stars Media Studio is a small creative team based in Darjeeling. We work with artists, local brands, and entrepreneurs who need visual content that feels honest and intentional. Our crew stays compact on purpose: fewer hands, clearer decisions, and a direct line between the person behind the camera and the person in front of it.

01

Hassan Raj Pillay

Founder, director of photography

Hassan started the studio after years of shooting editorial work for small fashion labels. He handles camera direction, lighting setups, and the final color pass on every project. His eye leans toward natural light and muted palettes, which keeps the work grounded even when the concept gets ambitious.

02

Rachel Mane

Art director, brand identity

Rachel shapes the visual language before a single frame is shot. She builds moodboards, sketches layout directions, and translates a client's story into a coherent palette and typography system. Her background in graphic design means every photoshoot and video edit carries a consistent brand thread from start to finish.

03

Zeeshan Dubey

Video editor, post-production

Zeeshan takes the raw footage and finds the rhythm. He cuts music videos, social clips, and campaign films with a focus on pacing and atmosphere rather than flashy effects. He also handles sound cleanup and export formats, so what you see in the edit is what you can actually publish.

04

How we work together

Small crew, shared decisions

None of us works in a silo. A portrait session might start with Rachel's moodboard, get shot by Hassan, and end with Zeeshan cutting a behind-the-scenes reel. We keep the team small so feedback loops stay short and the client always knows who is making the call.

05

Why we started the studio

Local stories deserve proper visuals

Most of our clients are independent: a denim label, a specialty coffee shop, an indie musician. They do not have a big marketing department, but they still need images and videos that hold their own next to national campaigns. That gap is where we fit.

06

What we value in a project

Clarity, honesty, and a real deadline

We prefer a clear brief over a vague one, and we are upfront about what a budget can and cannot cover. If a client needs a single campaign image rather than a full identity system, we say so. The goal is a finished piece that both sides are proud to put their name on.

The people behind the lens

Stars Media runs on a small crew of directors, photographers and editors who stay close to every project from first moodboard to final grade. No account managers, no hand-offs between strangers.

Founder, Director of Photography

Hassan Raj Pillay

Hassan leads the visual direction for fashion campaigns and portrait series. He spent six years shooting for local labels before starting Stars Media, and still operates the camera on most studio days. His eye for natural light and urban textures shapes the look of every lookbook we deliver.

Art Director, Brand Design

Rachel Mane

Rachel builds the visual identities behind the work: color palettes, typography, packaging and the moodboards that start every project. She has designed brand systems for coffee shops, clothing lines and independent musicians across the region, always starting from the story the client wants to tell.

Video Editor, Post-Production

Zeeshan Dubey

Zeeshan handles editing, color grading and motion graphics for music videos and social content. He works in short, collaborative sprints so clients see rough cuts early and stay part of the process. His recent work includes a two-day music video shoot that came together in under three weeks.

Production Assistant, Styling

Mira Fernandes

Mira coordinates shoots, sources wardrobe and props, and keeps the schedule realistic when budgets are tight. She joined the studio after working in local theater production, which is why every set we run feels organized and calm, even on the busiest days.
